Scarborough beach

With its unique twin North and South bays, Scarborough is truly Yorkshire's premier coastal resort, offering something for all the family. Both bays have firm, sandy, gently sloping beaches ideal for sandcastles, separated by a rocky headland jutting out into the North Sea, on which stands the magnificent medieval Scarborough Castle. In South Bay is the harbour, where local fishermen still land their catches, and from where you can take a trip out to sea. The fairground and amusements are popular with families, and the beach can be reached via a lift in the cliff. North Bay has a slightly larger and quieter beach than the south, and while still family friendly is also more popular with surfers. The harbour area is the first free WiFi seafront in the UK.
