York CitySightseeing

What better way to see York than to take a tour on an open top bus? We show you around the City, pointing out major tourist attractions, and our commentary gives you an introduction to the history of York.

As an added bonus, your ticket is valid for 24 hours, so that you can use the tour buses to travel from one attraction to another, or back to your hotel, the Railway Station, or your coach or car park.

A full tour, depending on the time of day, will take between 45 mins and an hour, but don't forget your ticket lasts until the time shown on it - so hop on and off as much as you like.

Frequent service 

To make the most of your hop on – hop off ticket you don’t want to be waiting too long for the next bus. You won’t be. For most of the day throughout the summer months the next bus will be along within 10 minutes.  In the spring and autumn they turn up every 20 minutes and in winter ‘pop and have a coffee’, the next one will be at the stop in 30 minutes.  There are 16 stops around the city where you can catch a CitySightseeing bus (see the Route Map).

Guides 

In summer we offer our customers the unique experience of a knowledgeable local guide to share their enthusiasm for the city with you.  Buses with a live guide on board have an illuminated LIVE GUIDE sign in the front window.  We have a great team of guides, each of whom has their own style and a wealth of knowledge.  There are guided tours every day between Easter and the end of September. Multilingual tours

Two buses an hour offer a recorded commentary in nine languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish and Mandarin. Multilingual tour buses have a series of national flag roundels on the front and above the entrance door.  The commentary can be listened to with the free earphones provided. 

Kids’ commentary

On the multilingual buses there is also a specially recorded track for younger passengers.  Still a full historic tour but with more laughs and rude noises!  

Kids’ Passport  Packs

Younger passengers will receive a Passport Pack as they board containing colouring pens and puzzles.  Also they get an opportunity to enter a drawing competition with great prizes.
